# Connect Cursor

> One file, without a key. Your agent signs up by itself, then you add to the file the header with the key it received.

## 1. Declare the server, without a key

The file is `.cursor/mcp.json` in the project, or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` for all your projects.

.cursor/mcp.json:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "subagent": {
      "url": "https://api.subagent.fr/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Without a key, the server shows a single tool: `sign_up`.

## 2. Ask your agent to sign up

> “Sign up to Escouade Mail. My e-mail is marie@example.com.”

It calls `sign_up` with the name of its inbox and your e-mail. The server returns a key, of the form `sak_…`, and an inbox `name@subagentmail.fr`. **The key is shown only once.** You receive a 6-digit code by e-mail, valid for 24 hours.

```text
Espace ouvert. Votre boîte : atelier-exemple@subagentmail.fr (inb_3f9c2a7e5b1d4c8e9a0f6b2d7c4e1a95). Elle reçoit dès maintenant ; elle n’enverra qu’une fois l’espace vérifié.
Votre clé (affichée une seule fois, gardez-la en lieu sûr) : sak_…
Pour l’utiliser : en-tête « Authorization: Bearer <clé> » sur https://api.subagent.fr/mcp, ou sur POST https://api.subagent.fr/v1/{opération}.
Un code à 6 chiffres vient de partir à m•••@exemple.fr (valable 24 heures). Demandez-le à votre humain, puis appelez verify avec votre clé.
Une fois l’espace vérifié, la boîte prépare des brouillons et écrit à votre humain (test: true). Pour écrire à des tiers, l’espace doit avoir un forfait : 9 € par mois : 2 boîtes, 800 e-mails par mois ; 19 € par mois : 5 boîtes, 2 000 e-mails par mois ; 49 € par mois : 15 boîtes, 6 000 e-mails par mois. billing_status dit où il en est.
```

## 3. Add the key to the file

The server reads the key on every request, in a header. The connection opened without a key still only shows `sign_up`: store the key in an environment variable, then add the header. The file only contains the variable's name.

```sh
export SUBAGENT_KEY="sak_…"
```

.cursor/mcp.json:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "subagent": {
      "url": "https://api.subagent.fr/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:SUBAGENT_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Then reload the server in Cursor: your agent sees the tools its key opens.

## 4. Give it the code

> “The code is 482913.”

It calls `verify`. Before this code, the inbox receives but does not send.

```text
Espace vérifié. La boîte reçoit, prépare des brouillons et écrit à votre humain (send_email avec test: true). Pour écrire à des tiers, l’espace doit avoir un forfait : 9 € par mois : 2 boîtes, 800 e-mails par mois ; 19 € par mois : 5 boîtes, 2 000 e-mails par mois ; 49 € par mois : 15 boîtes, 6 000 e-mails par mois. billing_status dit où il en est.
```

## 5. Check the connection

> “How is my inbox doing?”

It calls `inbox_status`, the starting point of every session: the space, the key's permissions, the sending hours, the plan, and for each inbox its daily quota.

## Next

- **Pay**: “Ask for the payment link.” Your agent calls `subscribe` and hands you the link. See [Pricing](https://escouade.io/en/pricing).
- **Approve its sends**: you connect [Claude](https://escouade.io/en/mail/docs/brancher/claude.md) or [ChatGPT](https://escouade.io/en/mail/docs/brancher/chatgpt.md) through the connector. Your agent's key does not carry `approve`.
