Sovereign AI: what stays with you, and what leaves.
With Escouade hub, Escouade runs on a server in your name; online, on our server in France. Here, point by point, is what stays with you under Escouade hub, what leaves, and what we can do there.
What stays with you
Escouade is installed on a server in your name: on your premises or with the host of your choice. The software, its database, your documents and their backups run there.
Scan reading (OCR) can run on this server. So can vectorisation, which makes it possible to search by meaning, or it can run with a provider.

The active AI provider
Receives the questions, the passages needed for the answer and the emails to analyse. A default provider applies with no setup; you can see it, and change it, in the settings.
Us, the publisher
We publish the updates and read the version and health of your installation. The update protocol does not carry your data.
What goes to the active AI provider
To answer, an AI model receives the question asked and the passages needed for the answer. To analyse an email, it receives that email.
A default provider is set at installation and applies with no further setup. You can see it, and change it, in the settings. Where it processes the data depends on the chosen provider.
What we can do on your machine
- Publish a version, which your installation fetches itself.
- Read its status: version and health.
- Trigger a backup, on your machine.
- Administer Escouade’s containers to apply an update: our update tool has this access, and it is written into the contract.
The update protocol carries the installation’s version and health status, not your data.
If you stop the updates
Your installation keeps running on the version it has, and your data stays accessible. Your right of use has no end date; only new versions stop.
AI and GDPR
Your data stays in your installation, and you remain responsible for its processing. What is sent to the active AI provider is a flow to enter in your register of processing activities: what leaves (questions, passages, emails to analyse), to whom, and why.
The choice of provider, and therefore of where processing takes place, is made in the settings.
On-premise AI or a dedicated server
AI is called “on premise” when the software runs on the company’s own infrastructure rather than in a shared service. Escouade hub is one installation per company, never a space pooled between customers.
Online, Escouade runs on our server in France, in a space separate from other customers’, and your data stays yours. If it must stay with you, Escouade hub is installed on a server in your name: your data on your server, with Escouade, the data and the AI; Meet, Mail, Social and Tools are then taken as an online subscription.
